Position Summary:

The position of youth director is a part-time position. The ideal candidate must exhibit a personal and growing relationship with Christ, have a passion for youth, and a desire to help this congregation pursue our mission statement. He/she must display ability in key areas related to the position such as communication, teaching, mentoring, delegation, organization, thinking creatively, and asking for help. He/she will work under the direction of the elders and the senior minister and will work alongside the children’s director and other staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate mentoring relationships with our middle and high school students individually and in groups.
  • Plan and lead weekly programming, especially on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
  • Recruit and empower adult volunteers.
  • Maintain meaningful relationships with members of the middle and high school youth group by attending school, music, or sports activities when able.
  • Plan and implement, in conjunction with church leadership, quarterly events for middle and high school students. These should include a mix of fun activities, team building, and service projects in order to strengthen the bond among youth group members while deepening their relationship with God.
  • Seek out ways to connect with other youth in our community and network with other local youth ministry professionals.
  • Promote the ministries of local and regional youth organizations such as Camp ACC and the Tennessee Christian Teen Convention.
  • Maintain a positive presence on social media and encourage our youth to do so as well. Engage students where they spend their time online while remembering to reflect the church’s mission.
  • Seek out ways to nurture your personal spiritual walk by attending a small group or regular Bible study, being in the Word, using Christian resources to grow in your role, and seeking assistance when needed.
