The Avenue Church in Glasgow, KY is seeking a man or woman who’s passionate about following Jesus and helping others do the same to serve as a full-time Worship Pastor. The Worship Pastor will work alongside the elders and Lead Pastor to strategically pursue the congregation’s mission.This is new position for us and we hope this will help us reach a new need to have engaging, authentic worship in our weekly gatherings.

Glasgow is a small family-oriented community. We’ve got lots of agricultural and manufacturing work in the area. The town is known as a good place to raise a family, but it’s also an area with plenty of opportunities for service and benevolence. Our congregation is known as one of the “helper” churches. We’re blessed to be able to do a lot of assistance with food, clothing, housing, utilities, and just about anything else people need. We love that folks in town know they can come to us when they’re in need.

Responsibilities:

This person’s primary focus would be coordinating and leading the Worship Team as they provide a meaningful, authentic worship experience during our Sunday worship gatherings, but they will have opportunities to serve in other areas based on needs and gifting.

Staff Development:

Our congregation us run by a team of five elders, who are assisted in leadership by one Lead Pastor. We also have a team of deacons and ministry leaders who conduct much of the day-to-day work of the church. The Worship Pastor would work alongside the Lead Pastor under the authority of the elders in leadership of the church. Our elders are extremely generous with our ministry leaders. They’re a ton of fun to be around, get along extremely well, and love being together. Meetings between elders and ministers are often quite fun!

Staff development is typically on a case-by-case basis. The elders are always willing for staff to find ways to gain more knowledge or be spiritually renewed, and will almost always approve reasonable requests for such things.
