The historic congregation of Thorn Grove Christian Church has struggled the last few years, particularly with the pandemic. A forward-thinking leadership team of both men and women, in partnership with church support group Church Partners of the Smokies, is collaborating to ‘relaunch’ the church. As they restructure, the church is seeking a half-time, bi-vocational Lead Minister to provide leadership alongside the part-time Teaching Minister already on staff.

This half-time position will:

• Direct the church in establishing and implementing a vision to reach their community
• Provide leadership to a small, part-time staff
• Work with the church’s elders to provide pastoral care for the congregation
• Plan for and help in the search for future pastors, including a Children/Youth Minister and Worship Minister (both part-time)

The candidate who accepts this role will not be required to preach on a weekly basis as that role is covered by the part-time Teaching Minister. However, occasional preaching may be required. Ideal candidates will hold doctrinal beliefs consistent with the Stone-Campbell tradition. Ideal candidates will also hold a Bachelor’s degree from a Christian college/institution or similar degree. Ideally, the candidate will also have some years’ experience leading a church or similar leadership experience in ministry.
