First Christian Church of Bluff City seeks a part time Youth Team Lead to help with children transitioning from elementary into middle school and to develop a youth program. Bluff City is a small town, twenty minutes from Johnson City, with a great community center and local activities. Our church shares a parking lot with the elementary school and is within walking distance of the community center. We are a small church, offering a unique opportunity for someone looking to gain ministry experience.
We work with other local churches to offer several family events throughout the year such as Trunk O Treat. We are a family church and provide a lot of volunteer involvement with frequent potluck meals, Easter egg hunt, summer family fun days, Christmas events, just to name a few. The Youth Team Lead would get to work with great volunteers. Pastor Jonathan Feathers, Emmanuel alum, and his wife Melanie Feathers, Milligan alum, will also offer great support and experience alongside the Youth Team Lead. We want to help someone looking to grow in their pastoral skills as they discern a future call to ministry.
Youth Team Lead (Part time appx. 10-15 hrs./wk) will be responsible for the ministry to children from birth to 6th grade, with a focus on supporting and developing a middle school program.
These responsibilities would include:
- Prepare and distribute children’s curriculum for Sunday school, Junior Church (Sunday AM worship time), Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings.
- Develop a program helping children moving into middle school.
- Direct a team of volunteers to assist with teaching and/or events.
- Teach middle school during scheduled times.
- Coordinate monthly or bi-monthly children’s and/or family events.
- Communicate with Senior Minister regarding opportunities to incorporate children and/or families within the worship service periodically.
- Provide a monthly report submitted to the FCCBC Board.
- Provide pastoral care as needed.
- If desired, gain experience preaching in Sunday Service.
Children’s Team Lead reports to the Senior Minister and to the Elders of FCCBC.
