The Youth Minister is a full-time position at Marlboro Christian Church (MCC) that focuses on leading and growing the Middle School and High School ministry, while collaborating closely with the full-time Children’s Director. This position involves fostering meaningful relationships with students, equipping them for spiritual growth, and developing programs that integrate with the church’s broader mission to make disciples who make disciples.

Responsibilities include:

  • Programming and Teaching:
    • Oversee all Middle School and High School programming, including Sunday gatherings, mid-week events, retreats, and outreach activities.
    • Teach biblically-grounded, culturally relevant messages that guide students in their faith.
    • Develop age-appropriate small group discussions, Bible studies, and leadership training opportunities.
  • Student Care and Development:
    • Build strong relationships with students and their families, providing pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance.
    • Mentor students in their faith journey, encouraging them to serve in ministry and live as Christ-followers.
    • Provide resources and opportunities for students to engage in mission trips, service projects, and community outreach.
    • Volunteer Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Recruit, train, and manage volunteer leaders to effectively minister to students.
    • Coordinate regularly with the Children’s Director to ensure smooth transitions for students moving from Children’s Ministry to Youth Ministry.
    • Work with other MCC staff to integrate youth programming into the overall church mission and vision.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Develop and manage the youth ministry budget.
    • Oversee curriculum selection, lesson planning, and event planning.
    • Communicate consistently with students, parents, and the congregation via newsletters, social media, and other platforms.
  • Worship and Special Services:
    • Collaborate with the Minister of Worship and Children’s Director on worship services, special events, and seasonal programs (e.g., VBS, Christmas, and Easter services).
    • Encourage student participation in worship and tech ministry opportunities.
  • Personal Expectations:
    • Live as a committed Christian leader in alignment with Scripture, striving for excellence in ministry.
    • Maintain a personal walk with Jesus Christ and model a lifestyle of integrity, humility, and compassion.
    • Be flexible, approachable, and a team player who embodies the mission and vision of Marlboro Christian Church.
