We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our church as a Student Minister. This role involves overseeing and cultivating the spiritual growth and development of all our students. The Student Minister will work closely with the youth ministry team to create a welcoming and engaging environment where students can encounter God, grow in their faith, and build meaningful relationships with one another.

Snellville Christian Church is a diverse congregation which has been worshiping together and serving the Snellville community since 1972. We are an independent church in the tradition of the restoration movement, not affiliated with any denomination. We are excited about the mission the Lord has called us to and believe that He has been shaping us, as the community around us has been changing, to better equip us for fulfilling that mission. 

Overview

The student minister works to provide a transformational environment that will disciple all students. The position oversees current education models for youth and will creatively introduce new ministry methods. The position reports to the Senior Minister and all ministers/staff/leaders are under the Elders’ direction. The student minister must have a good working relationship with Staff, Elders, and Ministry Leaders. All programs, expenditures, plans, and strategies will be shared with the Senior Minister for counsel and to ensure consistency with the vision of the Church and calendar.

The ideal person for this role will have a positive, energetic personality that connects well with students, leaders, and parents. They will oversee all aspects of the children’s ministry, ages Elementary through High school. This person must be passionate about reaching the next generation. They must have experience in teaching, speaking, leading/recruiting volunteers, and the ability to connect and communicate with both parents and children. Most importantly, they should demonstrate a life that is being biblically formed by Jesus and possess a passion for leading the youth of our church and community, equipping them with a well-rooted biblical foundation.

  • have a conviction of the infallible authority of the Bible, God’s Word.
  • be committed to moral purity and spiritual excellence in every area of life.
  • show a genuine love for all people.
  • be self-motivated with the ability to delegate, organize, and follow through on plans.
  • be able to relate to and lead youth.
  • have strong communication skills (public, small group, 1 on 1)
  • have a minimum of 2 years degree from an accredited Bible College with specific training in the area of Bible, Ministry, and/or Christian Education. More extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Student/Youth Ministry.
  • teach and explain biblical truths to students.
  • have a demonstrated ability to develop leadership among students.
  • be able to recruit and equip a core adult support team.  
  • be committed to SCC and its mission (SCC mission – Love God, Love People).
  • build positive relationships with SCC staff, leadership, and volunteers.
  • plan, delegate, and provide oversight for Youth Groups K – 12th, Sunday School, Church Camp, Bible Colleges, etc.

Specific Tasks (include but are not limited to):

  • Organize Student experiences via local youth conferences, teen conventions (CIY, TCTC …), Local Missions, and Foreign Missions.
  • Develop/identify curriculum for the elementary student Sunday worship time and recruit a team to lead this ministry.
  • Participate in leadership meetings as well as other Church meetings where insight concerning Students might be needed.
  • Attend school lunches regularly, local FCA, and some activities where Students participate.
  • Assist the Senior Minister as needed in visitation (especially with families with Students).
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned occasionally but must be authorized by the Senior Minister to ensure that the Director of Student Ministries maintains a healthy lifestyle.

The position of Student Minister is a full-time salaried position with an expectation of a minimum of 35 hours per week including Sundays. Details on compensation and benefits will be shared with candidates when they meet with the Elders.
