The First Christian Church of Blue Mound, IL seeks a new Senior Minister. We invite someone who will challenge us through biblically based, expository preaching. We are a non-denominational Christian Church located in the heartland of central Illinois. Our rural community church offers a contemporary style of worship with exceptional technology. We are committed to sharing biblical truth, in our community and beyond.
The pastor of the church shall perform the duties which usually pertain to that office. He/She shall be an ex officio member of all organized groups, auxiliaries and ministries and shall supervise the daily activities of the church staff. The pastor shall, in cooperation with the Elders, encourage orderly procedures in the life and work of the church through effective use of the constitution and by-laws.
Much of the pastor’s work will be responsive to needs that arise within the church. The pastor is also expected, however, to be proactive as much as possible by taking initiative, setting agendas, and creating new and fresh approaches to the task of the ministry.

Our staff structure:
The pastor will work closely with other staff members, Ministry Team Leaders, and the Leadership Team on those matters where common knowledge and input are beneficial for harmonious relationships and more effective implementation of the Lord’s work.
Staff members include: Youth Pastor; Director of Worship Arts and Technology; Office Administrator/ After School Camp Director.
The Senior Pastor is evaluated by the Nurturing Ministry Team in consultation with the Elders.
Our current Senior Pastor is retiring after 25 years of wonderful ministry to our church and has agreed to help with a grace-filled transition for the new Senior Pastor.

Our Community:
Our church is well known for our community involvement including: our After school camp program for children in our school district yearly; Home school co-op; Hosting the annual Community Vacation Bible School; Miracle Day – a one day community service event assisting homeowners with home improvements; Free Back to School health exams; Worship in the Park events; and musical concerts.
The Village of Blue Mound is a community of approximately 1100 people. It is a short commute to the cities of Decatur and Taylorville. The state capital, Springfield, is approximately 45 minutes away and Champaign Urbana (home of the University of Illinois) is 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Features of our community include: the newly built Meridian School District, Public Library, Volunteer Fire Department, Park District, Post Office, First National Bank and numerous small businesses.
