The Media Technician for Worship (MTW) is a part-time, contracted position for Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church (CHPC) in Kingsport, TN that will be responsible for overall media operation during worship services on Sunday mornings. The MTW will prepare, produce and operate various audio-visual components, including graphics, and be responsible for streaming directly through YouTube. This individual will regularly work alongside with church staff and members of the congregation.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Operating media equipment during the Sunday morning worship service;
- Organizing media components for display and live-streaming, including loading components to media software for presentation in worship;
- Maintaining the church’s YouTube page, including regularly livestreaming services to our YouTube channel;
- Editing any needed media (video, audio, and graphics) from worship leaders;
- Assisting with the implementation of a new audio-visual system within the Sanctuary;
- Communicating with worship leaders and participants during the week.
Education/Competencies:
- General working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Apple IOS systems.
- Foundational knowledge of audio/video/graphics editing software.
- Familiarity with media software preferred (e.g., Media Shout (version 6) – media presentation. software, OBS – live stream software, Adobe Premiere – video editing, and ProPresenter).
Personal Characteristics:
- Sufficient technical competency to handle position responsibilities;
- Capable of translating and transferring technical/media knowledge to persons with or without technical knowledge or media background when appropriate;
- Ability to work well alone and with others;
- Preference for a professed Christian, or a seeker who respects the Christian faith, who understands worship to be a reverential faith practice through which believers in Jesus Christ seek to glorify God;
- Age 18 or older.
Supervision and Communication:
- The Media Technician for Worship reports to the Pastor / Head of Staff.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- Weekly pay of $150 for approximately 7-10 hours per week.
- Sunday mornings currently require 2-3 hours with an additional 3-6 hours of preparation time for content creation. Worship begins at 10:00 a.m.
