Job Description

We are looking for a new Children’s Minister! The Children’s Minister will lead weekly programming, family events, and pastor-shepherd kids, families, and volunteers. Men and/or women are encouraged to apply.

-Have a relationship with Christ that is evident in daily walk and displays a life of character, spiritual maturity and wisdom, setting an example for staff, congregants and the community we serve.
-Demonstrate a strong work ethic and leadership ability, leading by example in recruiting and developing effective leaders and volunteers for the work of ministry and building up the body of Christ.
-Set direction and pace for student ministry with oversight from the elders & lead pastor.
-Fully aligned with the message, mission, values and strategy of New Hope Christian Church.
-Complete work timely and with a spirit of excellence, while requiring little to no supervision.
-Become a member of New Hope Christian Church.
Graduate of a four-year college (preferably a Bible College in our movement).
-Prefer a minimum of 3-5 years of ministry experience as a volunteer or staff member.

Responsibilities:
1. Lead children’s programming—25%
Provide weekly programming for nursery, preschool, and elementary school:
-Create programming that engages children in worship, teaching, and community.
-Create an atmosphere that is welcoming, loving, safe and fun!
-Curate curriculum helps volunteers teach the Bible, use crafts, and engages each age-group.

2. Recruit, train and develop volunteers—25%
Actively recruit and lead teams who minister to our kids:
-Recruit great volunteers and empower them to lead and serve.
-Cast vision, collaborate as a team, listen to feedback, and pastorally care for them.
-Meet regularly to communicate, plan, and gauge effectiveness in the ministry

3. Lead Family Events—25%
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to effectively accomplish the following events:
-Sunday Evening Program (Kids Bible Club): 12 weeks in Spring, 12 weeks in Fall
-Seasonal Events: Vacation Bible School, Summer Camp, Fall Fest, Christmas Kickoff
-Grade-Level Events: 5th Grade Banquet, SuperStart Trip (4th-5th graders), Promotion Sunday

4. Engage parents, grandparents and families– 15%
Be a resource for parents to help them become the primary spiritual influence their kids lives:
-Be available for meetings, phone calls and pastoral counseling sessions.
-Provide tools such as books, websites, newsletters, videos, etc.
-Walk them through milestone events such as Baptism, Child Dedication, and grade-level transitions

5. Personal and Professional Development-10%
Ensure you are practicing self-leadership to lead from a solid foundation and out of the overflow:
-Maintain a vibrant devotional life including Bible reading, prayer and other spiritual disciplines.
-Read and study, network with student ministers and other area leaders and attend conferences.
-Follow a mentor, be rooted in community, and pour into others.
