Located in beautiful East Tennessee, Crossroads Christian Church is a cornerstone of the local community. The church was founded in 2001 and has a 28-acre campus with updated facilities. In many ways, Crossroads is the community gathering place for Gray, with our buildings and sports fields being utilized over 300 times per year by our neighbors.

The mission of Crossroads is to make following Jesus a way of life. We fulfill this charge by pursuing personal growth in our identity with Jesus, living and serving together in community, and being on mission by making an impact for the Gospel with the people in our area and beyond.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Children’s Minister, under the direction of church leadership, is responsible for developing and communicating a consistent Sunday morning and Wednesday evening experience for all children from birth through 6th grade. 

The Children’s Minister oversees the recruitment, training, and development of all Difference Makers (volunteers) in the greeter, nursery, early childhood, and elementary areas. 

The Children’s Minister is the first point of pastoral care interactions for the Difference Maker team.

The Children’s Minister is responsible for overseeing and executing special ministry events such as, but not limited to, VBS, Promotion Sunday, Parent/Child Dedication, 5th & 6th-Grade Outings, etc. 

The Children’s Minister is responsible for the good stewardship of the ministry’s budget, supplies, and resources. They will also present teaching materials for approval. 

The Children’s Minister will communicate clearly and consistently with all Difference Makers via Planning Center Online.

The Children’s Minister will work to equip parents and guardians to raise their children to be thoughtful and spiritually mature. 

The Children’s Minister will invest in kids’ lives by being the point of contact for pastoral care needs. They will also acknowledge or attend extra-curricular activities and other milestone celebrations for the children of the ministry.

From time to time, the Children’s Minister will also collaborate with the Student Minister and the Community Impact Coordinator on activities and events. 

Qualifications and Skills

The right candidate must be spiritually mature, loyal, and steadfast to the truth that the Bible is the final authority.

It is preferable that this candidate has earned B.A. in biblical or theological studies.

Candidates must learn Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, Realm, and all other software/programs involved in executing Children’s Ministry requirements.

This individual must be knowledgeable of the Restoration Movement and embrace its foundational principles. 

The Children’s Minister must value the culture of Crossroads and have a heart for community outreach.

The right person for this position must exhibit Biblical knowledge and possess the wisdom to apply it with sound judgment.

Ideally, the right candidate would have multiple years of Children’s Ministry experience in a church the size of Crossroads or larger or similar experience in a comparable field.
